Startups in 30 countries are pitching their way to the Netherlands for a shot at up to €1,000,000 in the global finals of Get in the Ring during Global Entrepreneurship Week this November.
They will be hoping to score a knockout punch similar to Risparmio Super, a web-based startup that compares grocery store prices all over Italy, who was crowned the champion in 2012. The Italian startup defeated challengers from sixteen countries. This year, the number of participating countries has almost doubled as promising startups in 30 countries began competing in July for their national finals.
One of those new countries is the United States. The Kauffman Foundation is hosting the national finals in Kansas City. Another country new to the competition in 2013 is Indonesia where the national finals will be broadcast on national television.
Winners from each of the 30 national finals will submit a video pitch to be reviewed by a panel of experienced entrepreneurs and investors. Eight will be selected to travel to Rotterdam for the global finals on November 22. Applications from interested startups are still being accepted by the global organizers at the Erasmus Center for Entrepreneurship.
The full list of participating countries includes:
- Cape Verde
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- New Zealand
- South Africa
- The Netherlands
- United States
Several more countries will be officially confirmed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates on those countries, national winners and more.
