Prince Charles declared himself thrilled to be back in India supporting the Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust and Global Entrepreneurship Week as he addressed the gathering at the BYST-organised ‘Ecopreneurs’ event in Chandigarh.
As GEW India was set in motion, HRH was on hand to present awards to winners of the sustainable enterprise competition, ‘Keeping Our Environmental Footprint Small’. The event provided leading thinkers and doers from business, non-profit, research and educational organisations a forum to share best practise and next-generation clean technologies in order to reduce the carbon footprint and create a lasting green legacy.
The winning eco-friendly innovations were showcased at the event, including sustainable cooling technology, disposable clothing made from non-fabric woven materials and even soy ice. The event also saw the launch of the BYST ‘Green Business Club’ which aims to encourage sustainable entrepreneurship networking opportunities. As part of the scheme, one GBC ambassador plus business mentor has been assigned to each of BYST's regional chapters in order to spearhead the movement.
The Prince paid tribute to GEW Hosts BYST for their work in promoting youth entrepreneurship with a focus on sustainability, economic growth and social equity. He also acknowledged the success stories with had come out of these programmes, which he cited as having transformed the lives of millions in the most underprivileged sections of society.
Congratulations to all involved for a great event. Stay tuned to find out more from GEW worldwide as the campaign gets moving...
